We are just days away from 2018, but already we are looking forward to the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup, which will bring with it new technologies and other exciting updates for the truck, which entered into its current generation in 2014.
What updates can we expect? For starters, the new Silverado will drop some pounds for improved efficiency. While it is not clear where Chevy will take off some of the weight, Car and Driver alleges that this weight will not come from the bed—i.e., Chevy will still not follow Ford’s lead in switching to aluminum for the bed, meaning a more durable and longer-lasting bed compared to the F-150. A new turbocharged four-cylinder base engine will also boost fuel economy.
Chevrolet also promises a new frame for the Silverado, though the body and frame setup will remain the same, as will the standard rear-wheel drive offering with four-wheel and all-wheel drive optional.
This new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will likely debut in Detroit next month at the North American International Auto Show and arrive here at Lowe Chevrolet by summer 2018.
